Highlights of Jungfrau
A journey to the Jungfraujoch is an unmissable part of any Jungfrau tour. Reached by the highest railway in Europe, this UNESCO-listed site sits 3,454 metres above sea level. Step out into a world of ice and snow, where panoramic decks overlook the Aletsch Glacier and the Bernese Alps stretch endlessly before you.
For a truly special experience, you can also explore the Glacier Ice Cave, where sculptures and carvings showcase the beauty of this frozen world. We arrange private access and guided experiences so you can explore at your own pace, away from the crowds.
Considered one of the most beautiful valleys in the world, Lauterbrunnen is framed by sheer cliffs and dotted with 72 waterfalls. It’s the perfect complement to any Swiss tours itinerary. Walk through alpine meadows, visit traditional farms, or take a private cable car to Mürren for awe-inspiring views. The sound of distant bells and cascading water is pure Swiss poetry.
Grindelwald combines adventure and serenity. Surrounded by glaciers and peaks, it’s ideal for hiking, paragliding, or simply relaxing with coffee and a view. A highlight is the First Cliff Walk – a suspended metal walkway offering jaw-dropping panoramas.
For guests seeking something truly exclusive, we can include scenic helicopter flights or tailor-made Switzerland trips that combine Jungfrau with other alpine icons.
Grindelwald also boasts plenty of action for thrill-seekers. From tobogganing in Pfingstegg to the new Eiger Express to Jungfraujoch, mountain carts, and the exhilarating glacier gorge with a canyon swing, there’s no shortage of adventure.
Many of our multiday Jungfrau tours include Grindelwald, allowing you to explore both the high-altitude thrills of Jungfraujoch and the quieter, scenic beauty of this charming mountain village, complete with its traditional Swiss chalets.
Halfway between Lauterbrunnen and the Jungfraujoch, Kleine Scheidegg is a mountain pass of timeless beauty. It’s the starting point for the Jungfrau Railway and a favourite for photographers, hikers, and train enthusiasts. Many of our private tours in Switzerland include a pause here – perhaps for lunch on a sunny terrace overlooking the Eiger North Face.
Nearby, you’ll find the car-free village of Wengen, renowned for having the most sun in the region, and Mürren, which offers the best views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. Mürren is also home to the steepest cable car in the world, and like Wengen, it is a car-free village with a charming array of beautiful Swiss chalets. These villages are not only picturesque, but also perfect for those seeking tranquillity and breathtaking alpine views.

Yes – as one of Switzerland’s premier destinations, Jungfrau does come with a premium price tag, but the experience is worth every penny. Through our curated Swiss private tours, we ensure that you receive exceptional value, from exclusive experiences and priority access to seamless travel planning that eliminates stress and maximises your time in the region.
As altitude is a factor in the weather, temperatures in the Jungfrau region can vary greatly. In the valleys, you can expect summers to range from 59 to 68°F (15 to 20°C), ideal for hiking and outdoor activities.
At Jungfraujoch, however, the temperatures remain below freezing year-round, offering a truly alpine experience. Winters bring heavy snowfall and crisp mountain air, creating perfect conditions for skiing and scenic tours.
You’ll need at least half a day to explore Jungfraujoch comfortably. The train journey itself is an experience, taking about 1 hour from Grindelwald to the top. Once at the top, we recommend spending around 2 hours to visit the Ice Palace, observation decks, and glacier platforms.
Afterward, it takes another hour to return. Many of our Jungfrau tours include a full day in the area, with time to stop at Kleine Scheidegg or Lauterbrunnen en route for a more immersive experience.
Jungfrau is popular, but it’s far from a tourist trap when experienced the right way. The region’s beauty is undeniable, and with our insider planning, you’ll avoid crowds and discover the quieter, more authentic side of the Alps. Our private tours in Switzerland ensure exclusive timings, reserved tickets, and hidden spots that transform the Jungfrau region from a busy landmark into a truly unforgettable experience.
