Philippe Stalder - Experience Creator, Luxury Tours Switzerland

Philippe Stalder grew up in the foothills of the Swiss Alps, in a place where the landscape shapes how you think before you have words for it. His family’s roots run further still, back to the Aletsch Glacier region, Switzerland’s most expansive ice field. That connection is not incidental to who he is as a guide. It comes through in how he talks about the mountains, and in where he takes people. Ask Philippe where his favourite place in Switzerland is and the answer comes without hesitation. The Aletsch. It always has been.

Journalism came next. Philippe earned a BA in Zurich before completing a Master’s degree across universities in Aarhus and Amsterdam, an education that placed him inside two of Europe’s most distinct media cultures and sharpened his instinct for what a story actually needs. Back in Switzerland, he worked as an editor at Vice, the Tages-Anzeiger, and SRF, developing a reputation for precise communication, rigorous thinking, and a genuine interest in the stories other people overlook.

That same instinct has always pointed him toward places and subjects that don’t announce themselves. It is what makes him a natural at what he does now.

For Philippe, Switzerland is not a postcard. It is a place with layers, and most people only ever see the first one.

The Aletsch is where it starts for him, always. The largest glacier in the Alps, moving imperceptibly, carrying the weight of something much older than tourism or travel. When your family comes from a place like that, you don’t just visit it. You feel the difference between knowing a landscape and simply standing in it.

What he loves most about Switzerland is that it keeps revealing itself. The more you know, the more there is to find. The geology. The political history. The local traditions that exist in one valley and nowhere else. The restaurants that don’t have websites. The views that don’t have names. That is the Switzerland he shows people, and the reason he never runs out of things to say about it.

In 2015, Philippe set off along the Silk Road. He came back with a different understanding of what travel is actually for, and what a guide gives someone who is far from home.

Over the years that followed, he spent extended periods living between cultures across five continents, developing the cross-cultural fluency that now makes him equally at ease with guests arriving from New York, Tokyo, or Dubai. He has also survived motobiking through the Himalayas. That tells you something about how he approaches an unfamiliar route.

    Our Reviews

We enjoyed two fantastic days of touring with Julian. He picked us up from our Viking River cruise promptly, and kept us entertained with many stops, picture opportunities, a delicious lunch of raclette, and lots of information about the area. After he dropped us off at our hotel in Lucerne, he still provided suggestions for our meals and activities for the days we were on our own. He then picked us up for our second day of touring, and again provided a wonderful day of exploring and a fun picnic lunch where he also brought us homemade baked goods that he prepared himself. Delicious!

Julian was professional, engaging and very accommodating to our needs. I would highly recommend using this company and Julian for any touring needs in Switzerland.

We had an amazing day exploring Switzerland’s hidden spots with our guide, Josh. He was young, enthusiastic, and full of interesting facts about Swiss history and culture, which made the tour both fun and informative.

Highlights included a cheese-tasting hike, a peaceful picnic by a stunning lake, and some thrilling adventure rides down the Alps. Everything was well-organized and thoughtfully planned.

Josh’s passion and local knowledge really made the experience special. Highly recommended for anyone looking to see a different side of Switzerland!

I regularly book tours with My Swiss Panorama for our guests, and I honestly can’t recommend them enough. Every single guest has come back super happy, impressed, and full of great stories. Josh and Marc, the guides, are just amazing – super knowledgeable, easygoing, and they really know how to create special, personalized experiences.

I recently went on one of their tours again myself, this time with a group of coworkers, and we were all completely blown away. They took us to incredible hidden spots that you’d never find on your own – peaceful, beautiful places far away from the tourist crowds. One of the highlights was riding mountain scooters down a secret alpine road – such a fun and unexpected experience!

What I really love is that their tours always feel fresh and tailored, like you’re exploring Switzerland with friends who know all the best places. If you’re looking for something authentic, high-quality, and really memorable, My Swiss Panorama is the way to go.

Our goal was to see as much as possible in 6 days while maintaining an unhurried approach. From the first contact, our experience was detailed perfection. Marc and his team managed everything from airport pickup to hotel and restaurant recommendations.

We hoped to relax and not worry about anything — this expectation was exceeded. The team clearly listened to our preferences.

Our main stops included Zurich, Appenzell, Liechtenstein, Lake Lucerne, Interlaken, Thun, Zermatt, and the vineyards around Montreux.

The best element of our time was our top-tier guide, Manuel. His personality, knowledge, energy, and pride in his country were exceptional.

My family visited Switzerland for ten days and had an unforgettable trip. I dealt primarily with Jana but also received assistance from Joshua and Fabienne. We had an idea of certain places we wanted to see but also received invaluable guidance on beautiful places and hidden gems.

Starting with a tour of Old Town Zurich, we went on to enjoy Appenzell, Lucerne, Mt Titlis, Jungfraujoch, Gimmelwald, the Schilthorn, Interlaken, the Goldenpass Express, Thun and Bern.

Our guides Bruno and Elia were personable, knowledgeable, and professional. They ensured we saw as much as possible at our preferred pace.

They also provided excellent lodging and dining recommendations, and the drivers were professional and safe. We never had to think about logistics. I can’t recommend Luxury Tours Switzerland enough.

We had the good fortune of selecting Luxury Tours Switzerland for our two-week visit to Switzerland. Our first communications with Joshua, Jana and Fabienne set the stage for an impeccably curated trip. We collaborated with the team to develop a customized trip.

The itinerary was prepared with amazing detail and provided on a great app.

The most impactful element of our holiday was our tour guide Manuel. He took us to places we would have never seen on our own and prepared delicious snacks daily. Manuel’s love and enthusiasm for his country made him an incredible ambassador and a pleasure to travel with.
