Marc’s path into luxury travel began long before there was a company to speak of. His parents brought him to the Maderaner Valley in the canton of Uri when he was a year and a half old. His grandmother walked beside him in nature for years after that. Switzerland was never just a backdrop for Marc. It was always the point.
That connection deepened into expertise. Marc earned a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Geosciences from the University of Basel, then a Master’s in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability Management from ETH Zurich, one of the world’s leading universities. He went on to work in environmental management at Swiss Federal Railways. The work was meaningful, but progress inside a large organisation moved slowly. He saw motivation fade around him. Rather than accept that pace, he chose to build something of his own.
What followed was years of hiking regions most guides never visit, discovering hidden places that don’t appear on any map โ and building, with his co-founder Joshua, a company that has earned the trust of travel advisors and discerning travellers worldwide.
The Birth of Luxury Tours Switzerland
Some of the best ideas start with a wrong turn.

After a heavy winter storm, Marc and Joshua noticed something extraordinary lying on the ground: timber felled by the storm, ancient and beautiful. The idea was simple, build unique, sustainable lamps from that wood. Their marketing strategy was equally straightforward: photograph the lamps in the Swiss landscape, at the most beautiful places they could find.
They hiked before dawn. They found the light. They shared the images.
Nobody asked about the lamp. Everyone asked where the photograph had been taken.
That moment changed everything. Marc and Joshua realised people didn’t want a product. They wanted the place. They wanted Switzerland, its valleys, its light, its hidden corners, and someone who could actually take them there. MySwissPanorama was born.
Marc’s scientific background shaped those early tours into something richer than sightseeing.

The geology underfoot. The ecology of an alpine meadow. The history written into a valley’s contours. Guests didn’t just see Switzerland. They began to understand it. His images of the country began attracting a following of their own, his personal Instagram account @switzerland_with_marc grew into one of Switzerland’s most-followed travel profiles in those early years.
They grew a Pinterest presence to four million monthly views. When Zurich’s finest hotels noticed their guests returning from tours completely transformed, concierge partnerships followed naturally. Les Clefs d’Or, the international luxury concierge association, requested the partnership themselves, based on the quality of the tours alone.
Then COVID arrived. When travel returned, so did the demand, stronger than before. Returning clients began asking for more than a guided day. They wanted everything handled: hotels, transfers, restaurants, the whole journey. Luxury Tours Switzerland, the full-service DMC, grew directly from that trust.
Today, the company operates with a team of 15 specialists. More than 500 five-star reviews. The #1 ranking for outdoor activities in Zurich on TripAdvisor, held consistently.
