We enjoyed two fantastic days of touring with Julian. He picked us up from our Viking River cruise promptly, and kept us entertained with many stops, picture opportunities, a delicious lunch of raclette, and lots of information about the area. After he dropped us off at our hotel in Lucerne, he still provided suggestions for our meals and activities for the days we were on our own. He then picked us up for our second day of touring, and again provided a wonderful day of exploring and a fun picnic lunch where he also brought us homemade baked goods that he prepared himself. Delicious!
Julian was professional, engaging and very accommodating to our needs. I would highly recommend using this company and Julian for any touring needs in Switzerland.

Overview
Highlights
Two of the world’s most storied alpine names, linked by the most beautiful train journey on earth. This 10-day private ski tour from St. Moritz to Zermatt pairs the glamour of the Engadine with the drama of the Matterhorn, built for skiers who want serious terrain by day and pure indulgence by night. The route is written around advanced terrain, but every day can be tailored to your group: private instruction, gentler pistes and an easier pace can be arranged for beginner and intermediate skiers, and mixed-ability groups are very welcome.
In each resort a private certified ski guide, a local who knows every line, leads the way, reading the snow and choosing the terrain. The heart of the trip is given over to the Glacier Express in its Excellence Class: a slow, five-course glide across the roof of Switzerland.
In each resort a single, unrepeatable winter experience is woven in. A guest run down the world’s only natural-ice bobsleigh track in St. Moritz, and a fondue dinner at the igloo village beneath the Matterhorn above Zermatt.
Between the skiing there are landmark hotels, gourmet mountain tables and a rhythm unhurried enough to savour every moment.
Schedule
Morning
A private chauffeur collects you from Zurich airport, or, on request, a scenic private flight into the Engadin airport at Samedan.
The road climbs into a high, luminous valley of larch forest and frozen lakes at 1,800 metres, the light unlike anywhere else in the Alps.
Afternoon
Settle into the Kulm Hotel, where alpine winter tourism was born in 1864 with a famous wager, and a landmark of St. Moritz ever since.
Over afternoon tea your Engadine ski guide shapes the days ahead. There is time for the spa or a first stroll along the lakeshore before dusk.
Evening
A welcome dinner at The Grand Restaurant, the Kulm’s elegant dining room, where you toast the week to come.
Overnight
Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz
Morning
The funicular lifts you from the village to Corviglia. Your guide warms you up on its sweeping, sunlit pistes before the cable car to Piz Nair at 3,057 metres, where the descent opens with a grandstand view over the frozen lakes far below.
Afternoon
The celebrated World Cup terrain and, for the confident, the off-piste bowls beneath Piz Nair.
Lunch is a glamorous affair at La Marmite, Reto Mathis’s legendary temple to truffle and caviar, or on the sun terrace at El Paradiso.
Evening
Dinner at The K by Tim Raue, the Kulm’s two-Michelin-starred table, one of the finest in the Alps.
Overnight
Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz
Morning
The Corvatsch cable car climbs to 3,303 metres, the highest point in the Engadine, for glacier pistes and the area’s finest steep-and-deep.
Your guide links Corvatsch with neighbouring Furtschellas across quiet, high terrain few visitors ever find.
Afternoon
The prize run of the valley: the Hahnensee, a nine-kilometre descent with an off-piste soul that sweeps all the way down to the edge of St. Moritz Bad.
You finish tired and grinning, in perfect time for tea.
Evening
The first signature experience, a guest ride on the Olympia Bob Run. With a professional pilot and brakeman you plunge from the St. Moritz start through the natural-ice curves to Celerina in under a minute and a half of pure adrenaline, sealed with a warming drink at the finish.
Timed, when dates align, to coincide with White Turf or the Snow Polo World Cup on the frozen lake.
Overnight
Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz
Morning
A short transfer to Diavolezza at 2,978 metres, the wildest of the Engadine’s ski mountains, set against the shining Bernina glaciers and the valley’s only 4,000-metre peaks.
Afternoon
With your guide, and, for this terrain, roped for safety, ski the classic Morteratsch glacier descent, a ten-kilometre route through a frozen amphitheatre of seracs and ice.
For the strongest skiers, there is an optional Engadine heli-drop on the Fuorcla, among the very few heli-skiing permits in Switzerland.
A hearty mountain lunch on the Diavolezza terrace follows, with the glaciers spread before you.
Evening
A restorative evening in the spa and a quiet dinner as you pack for the great crossing.
Overnight
Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz
Morning
Your luggage is collected from the Kulm and sent ahead to Zermatt, so you travel with nothing but a day bag.
A personal welcome on the platform leads you to your reserved single window seat in the Glacier Express Excellence Class. Champagne and a welcome platter are served as the panoramic carriage eases out of St. Moritz and the great traverse begins.
Afternoon
Eight unhurried hours across the roof of Switzerland: 291 kilometres, 91 tunnels and 291 bridges, over the soaring Landwasser Viaduct and the Oberalp Pass at 2,033 metres.
The day is accompanied by a seasonal five-course menu with paired wines, the Glacier Bar, and your own concierge.
Evening
Arrival into car-free Zermatt as the Matterhorn makes its first appearance, then a private transfer to CERVO, where your luggage is already waiting in your room.
An easy dinner follows a day of pure scenery.
Overnight
CERVO Mountain Resort, Zermatt
Morning
A new local guide meets you in Zermatt, a Matterhorn expert who knows the mountain intimately.
Your guide reintroduces you on the Riffelberg and Rotenboden pistes, reading your ski legs after the travel day, the peak standing dead ahead the whole way down.
Afternoon
Onward to the high glacier terrain for long cruising reds and the first ungroomed lines of the Zermatt leg.
A leisurely lunch follows at a hidden mountain table such as Adler Hitta or the hamlet of Zum See.
Evening
Dinner at Ferdinand, CERVO’s characterful alpine restaurant, or a reserved table in the village.
Overnight
CERVO Mountain Resort, Zermatt
Morning
A full guided ski safari across Zermatt’s sectors, chasing the best snow of the day and linking the mountain’s finest descents with the freedom that only a private guide brings.
Afternoon
Late in the afternoon you trade the pistes for something extraordinary: a guided arrival at the igloo village at around 3,000 metres above the resort, hand-carved anew from snow and ice each winter with the Matterhorn as its view.
Evening
The second signature experience, a cheese fondue inside the glowing ice and a soak in the open-air whirlpool beneath a canopy of stars, the Matterhorn silhouetted against the night.
A guided journey back down the mountain returns you to the warmth of CERVO.
Overnight
CERVO Mountain Resort, Zermatt
Morning
An early start for first tracks. Your guide has you on the glacier’s freshly groomed pistes as the lifts open, the Matterhorn catching the first light and barely another soul in sight.
Afternoon
A full day with your guide on the glacier and Zermatt’s sunniest terrain, snow and mood setting the pace, with a long, unhurried lunch at altitude.
Evening
The CERVO spa and a relaxed dinner back in the warmth of the resort.
Overnight
CERVO Mountain Resort, Zermatt
Morning
A final full ski day, shaped entirely around where the mountain is skiing best and your favourite terrain from across the journey.

Evening
A celebratory farewell dinner at a gourmet table, closing a journey across two of the greatest names in the Swiss Alps.
Overnight
CERVO Mountain Resort, Zermatt

A last coffee with the Matterhorn in view, or a few final turns for the reluctant.

Our Reviews
Frequently Asked Questions
It is built for confident intermediate-to-expert skiers. You should be comfortable on red pistes all day and happy to be introduced to off-piste terrain.
Your guide matches the off-piste and the pace to you each day, so you decide how hard the days get.
If you are a beginner or at a medium level, we are more than happy to adjust the itinerary. Just let us know when you get in touch and we will shape the skiing around your group.
You have two guides: a certified local in the Engadine for the St. Moritz days, and a second Matterhorn specialist who meets you in Zermatt. Each one guides only in their own valley, and that local knowledge is what shapes the terrain you ski each day.
Ten days is the pacing we recommend. It gives you three full ski days in the Engadine, four in Zermatt, and a whole day for the Glacier Express crossing, with arrival and departure days that are not rushed.
Shorter versions work, but something has to give: either ski days, or the Glacier Express becomes a transfer rather than a highlight.
Both are world-class, and both are snow-sure. The altitude is the reason: the Engadine skis high above the valley floor and Zermatt has extensive glacier terrain, so conditions hold up across the season. That reliability matters more to our guests every year. They also ski very differently, which is why we pair them. The Engadine gives you high, wide terrain across Corviglia, Corvatsch and Diavolezza, plus long descents like the nine-kilometre Hahnensee and the Morteratsch glacier run.
Zermatt gives you the Matterhorn, extensive high glacier skiing, and the freedom to run a full ski safari across the sectors with a private guide.
Excellence Class guarantees a single window seat for every guest, so nobody sits in the aisle. The eight-hour crossing from St. Moritz to Zermatt includes a seasonal five-course menu with paired wines, Champagne on departure, access to the Glacier Bar, and a concierge dedicated to your group for the day.
Winter is when the route looks most dramatic, crossing snow-covered passes, viaducts and gorges between St. Moritz and Zermatt. In Excellence Class the eight hours are the experience rather than the transfer.
Because your luggage travels ahead separately, you spend the day at the window instead of moving bags.
No. Your luggage is collected from the Kulm Hotel in the morning and sent ahead to Zermatt, so you travel with only a day bag. It is waiting in your room at CERVO when you arrive that evening.
Yes. An optional heli-drop on the Fuorcla can be added on the Diavolezza day, one of the very few places in Switzerland where heli-skiing is permitted. It is quoted separately and always depends on weather and conditions on the day.
Yes, ski passes and lift tickets are included and organized by us. Premium ski-equipment rental can also be arranged if you are not travelling with your own.
You ride as a guest with a professional pilot and brakeman, starting from the St. Moritz start house and running the natural-ice curves down to Celerina. The run takes under a minute and a half, and finishes with a warming drink at the bottom.
January to March gives the most reliable snow in both resorts. February is the standout, combining prime glacier conditions in Zermatt with White Turf and the Snow Polo World Cup on the frozen lake in St. Moritz.
Yes. Every journey we plan is tailor-made, and the ski days here are shaped around the snow, the weather and how your legs are feeling. Tell us what you want more of, and your guides build the days around it.
