Full Tour Details

Fourteen days. One beautifully paced Switzerland travel itinerary that flows from Zurich and Lucerne to the Jungfrau Region, Zermatt, Ticino, and St. Moritz – weaving together iconic landscapes and quietly spectacular places most travellers never reach. From helicopter landings near the Matterhorn to lakeside villages like Ascona and alpine hideaways in Valais, this journey shows Switzerland at its most refined and authentic.

Designed as one of our most complete Switzerland guided tours, it balances world-famous highlights with insider access, unhurried travel, and the confidence that every detail has been thoughtfully handled.

Schedule

Day 1
Arrival in Zurich – Food, Craft & First Impressions

Morning: Your journey begins in Zurich, Switzerland’s most cosmopolitan city, and a natural starting point for many Switzerland tours. After arrival, you meet your private Switzerland tour guide, who introduces the city through a guided food-focused walk. As you explore neighbourhoods beyond the obvious sights, you sample local specialities and gain an easy sense of how Zurich balances tradition with modern life.

Afternoon: For those interested in Swiss craftsmanship, an optional private watchmaking experience at Maurice de Mauriac offers insight into the precision and design culture Switzerland is known for. Alternatively, the afternoon can be kept relaxed, with time to stroll along Lake Zurich or settle into a café for a fika stop.

Evening: As evening arrives, you’ll check in to your lakeside hotel – Eden au Lac for a relaxed first evening at leisure.

Day 2
Rhine Falls & Swiss Farm Traditions

Morning: Day 2 introduces Switzerland’s rural side. Leaving Zurich, you travel north toward the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen, the largest waterfall in Europe. From riverside viewpoints, you feel the scale and power of the falls before boarding a boat that takes you impressively close to the crashing water.

Afternoon: The focus then shifts from spectacle to tradition. At a private family-run Swiss farm, you experience daily rural life firsthand. Depending on the season, this may include milking cows, driving a tractor, and tasting fresh local produce. It’s a grounded, human contrast to the morning’s drama and a reminder that Switzerland’s landscapes are still working landscapes.

Evening: Returning to Eden au Lac, the evening is intentionally unstructured. Whether you choose a relaxed dinner near your hotel or a quiet walk by the lake, the day ends with space to unwind.

Day 3
Lucerne & Mount Pilatus – Chocolate and High Alpine Views

Morning: After breakfast, you travel south to Lucerne, a city known for its lakeside setting and historic centre. The morning begins with a private chocolate-making workshop, where Swiss chocolatiers guide you through flavour, technique, and craftsmanship. It’s hands-on, engaging, and distinctly Swiss.

Afternoon: From Lucerne, you ascend Mount Pilatus by cable car, climbing from lake level into panoramic alpine scenery. At the summit, sweeping views stretch across Lake Lucerne, the Central Swiss Alps, and far into the lowlands. Lunch is enjoyed at a mountain restaurant, where scenery becomes part of the experience.

Evening: Adventure follows with optional activities such as the Dragon Glider or alpine toboggan run before descending back toward Lucerne. You’ll then settle into your second hotel for the night, the Ameron Lucerne.

Day 4
Rosenlaui Gorge, Giessbach Falls & Schynige Platte

Morning: Day 4 marks your transition into the Bernese Oberland. Travelling toward Interlaken, you stop at the Rosenlaui Glacier Gorge, where narrow walkways wind between sculpted rock walls and rushing water. It’s immersive, cool, and surprisingly peaceful.

Afternoon: Lunch is served at the historic Grandhotel Giessbach, overlooking Lake Brienz, followed by a short visit to the nearby waterfalls. From here, an oldtimer mountain train carries you on a scenic ride up to Schynige Platte, where alpine gardens, walking paths, and far-reaching views open out across the Jungfrau region.

Evening: Descending to Interlaken, you arrive at your hotel – the Victoria Jungfrau – knowing that the Alps are no longer just scenery, they’re now the setting for the days ahead.

Day 5
Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Grindelwald & Interlaken

Morning: Your day begins deep in the Jungfrau region with a visit to Lauterbrunnen – a broad alpine valley framed by rock faces and dotted with waterfalls. A guided village walk brings you close to Staubbach Falls, one of Switzerland’s most recognisable cascades, while your guide explains how this dramatic landscape has shaped life here for centuries.

Afternoon: From the valley floor, you travel by train up to the car-free village of Wengen. A relaxed walk through the village reveals balconies filled with flowers and wide views toward the Jungfrau massif. After lunch, the journey continues to Grindelwald, where you explore the lively village centre, browse local shops, and take in the contrast between traditional chalets and modern alpine life.

Evening: Returning to Interlaken, you enjoy a guided city stroll that ties the region together – lakes, mountains, and transport routes meeting in one place. Optional experiences include a tandem paragliding flight or a sunset boat ride on Lake Brienz, before settling back into your hotel for the night.

Day 6
Jungfrau Helicopter Flight, Zermatt & Crans-Montana

Morning: This morning begins with a true highlight: a scenic helicopter flight into the high Alps. You lift off toward the Jungfrau massif, landing for breakfast with views across the Aletsch Glacier. Time at altitude allows you to explore ice caves and viewpoints that few travellers ever reach.

Afternoon: From the Jungfrau region, the flight continues toward Zermatt, passing close to the Matterhorn for an unforgettable aerial perspective. After landing, lunch is served at a mountain restaurant before a private helicopter transfer carries you onward to Crans-Montana, where the landscape opens into sunlit terraces above the Rhône Valley.

Evening: The afternoon is reserved for rest and recovery. You’ll be staying at the Le Crans hotel, where a massage and wellness time at the spa will help you slow the pace after an exhilarating day. Dinner is unhurried, with valley views and alpine light closing the day on a calm note.

Day 7
Valais Hidden Gems & Alpine Summer Landscapes

Morning: After breakfast, your private driver-guide meets you at Le Crans and you head into the Valais for a day that feels quietly local. The first stop is one of the region’s oldest wooden villages, where you’ll find dark timber houses and flowered balconies. As you walk between them, stories of mountain life, and farming traditions bring the village to life. It’s the sort of place you’d never “accidentally” find without someone who knows exactly where to turn.

Afternoon: From here, the day stays gently active with a scenic suspension bridge walk – exciting enough to feel like an adventure, but comfortable for most travellers. You’ll then pause for a treat at a cosy café for a seasonal fruit tart that’s become something of a local favourite. Next, a cable car ride lifts you up to Bettmeralp, a car-free mountain village with fresh air, open views, and easy walking paths towards Riederalp.

Evening: The day finishes with a relaxed alpine picnic experience – a refined raclette-style tasting, paired with Swiss chocolates. There’s time to browse small local shops for artisan products before you return to Le Crans, sun-tired in the best way. Optional add-ons like golf or a longer hike can be slotted in if you’d like a bit more activity.

Day 8
The Italian Part of Switzerland – Valle Verzasca, Ascona & Locarno

Morning: We’ll begin day 8 by travelling south, crossing the Alps via the scenic Nufenen Pass into Ticino – the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Your first stop is the dramatic Piumogna Waterfall, where water tumbles through rock pools framed by chestnut forests.

From here, you continue into the heart of the Valle Verzasca. There’s time to pause along the riverbanks, take photographs, and simply enjoy the slower rhythm of this part of the country.

Afternoon: The journey continues toward Lake Maggiore and the elegant lakeside town of Ascona. A guided village walk introduces its colourful buildings, shaded piazzas, and waterfront promenade. This is Switzerland at its most Mediterranean, and the contrast with the high Alps feels striking in the best way.

A gelato stop is, naturally, non-negotiable. It’s a small pleasure, but one that captures the spirit of the region perfectly. Afterward, there’s free time to browse local boutiques, linger by the lake, or enjoy a coffee beneath the palms.

Evening: As evening approaches, you settle into Giardino Ascona, a retreat that reflects the relaxed elegance of Ticino. Dinner is enjoyed in Locarno at a traditional pizzeria, where simple, well-made dishes round out the day.

Day 9
Valle Verzasca – Stone Villages, Clear Water & Alpine Grottoes

Morning: The day begins in Valle Verzasca, one of the most photogenic corners of southern Switzerland. You travel through a narrow valley where emerald water runs beneath stone bridges and villages cling to the hillsides. Stops include Sonogno town and Lavertezzo – home to the iconic Ponte dei Salti bridge – where cobbled lanes and traditional stone houses reflect centuries of mountain life.

Afternoon: Lunch is enjoyed in a traditional grotto, where regional dishes are served simply and seasonally. Afterward, there’s time to swim in the clear river pools or take a gentle walk along shaded paths following the water. Your guide will share insights into how this valley remained largely unchanged for generations.

Evening: Before returning to Ascona, you pause above Ronco sopra Ascona for sweeping views across Lake Maggiore as the light softens. The evening is relaxed, allowing you to enjoy the lakeside atmosphere back at your hotel – the Giardino Ascona.

Day 10
Lugano & Lake Lugano by Boat

Morning: On day 10, you’ll explore Lugano, a city where Swiss precision meets Italian ease. A guided walk through the old town introduces elegant squares, arcaded streets, and lakefront promenades that feel distinctly southern. Time is left unstructured enough to wander or enjoy a morning coffee by the water.

Afternoon: You board a boat on Lake Lugano for a scenic cruise to Morcote, often described as one of Switzerland’s most beautiful villages. Lunch follows at leisure, before taking the funicular up Monte San Salvatore for wide views across the lake and surrounding peaks. An optional visit to the Monte Brè mountain offers a slightly different perspective.

Evening: Returning to Ascona, the evening remains flexible. Dinner can be arranged lakeside, or you may prefer a quiet evening enjoying the hotel and its surroundings.

Day 11
Davos, Walser Villages & Alpine Traditions

Morning: Leaving Ascona behind, you travel north toward Davos, passing through changing landscapes as forests replace palm trees. A stop in the Walser village of Sertig Dörfli introduces a quieter alpine world, where wooden houses sit beneath towering peaks.

Afternoon: You’ll embark on a 1-hour gentle walk leads toward a nearby waterfall, followed by a Swiss cheese tasting that highlights mountain dairy traditions. After the walk, things take a lighter turn as you swap walking shoes for a mountain scooter and glide back down toward Davos. It’s an easy, fun descent, combining fresh air, open scenery, and a simple sense of enjoyment that suits all ages.

Evening: The day ends in the Davos Monstein, where dinner is served in a historic restaurant more than 400 years old. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, rounding out the day before returning to the Ameron Davos hotel for the night.

Day 12
St. Moritz, Val Fex & Engadin Views

Morning: A day trip brings you to St. Moritz, where a guided village walk highlights its Olympic history and lakeside setting. From here, you continue to Sils Maria and board a horse-drawn carriage into the peaceful Val Fex, a secluded valley known for its silence and scenery.

Afternoon: Lunch is enjoyed in a stunning mountain restaurant before returning to St. Moritz. Later, a cogwheel train ascends Muottas Muragl, offering panoramic views across the Engadin lakes and surrounding peaks.

Evening: As the sun lowers, you return to Davos with a sense of having seen both the glamorous and understated sides of the region. Dinner is relaxed, allowing the day’s contrasts to settle.

Day 13
Pizol Five Lakes Hike & Bad Ragaz Spa Time

Morning: The day begins with a scenic cable car ascent to the Pizol area, setting the stage for one of eastern Switzerland’s most rewarding alpine walks. The famous Five Lakes route is approached at a relaxed pace, with your guide adapting the walk to suit your group. Each lake reflects a different mood of the surrounding peaks, from deep blues to soft alpine greens.

Afternoon: A Swiss picnic is enjoyed beside the water, with time to rest, take photographs, or even try a brief cold plunge for those feeling brave. After descending, the focus shifts from movement to relaxation as you travel to Bad Ragaz, long known for its thermal waters.

Evening: The afternoon spa experience allows muscles to unwind after days in the mountains. Thermal pools, quiet relaxation areas, and optional treatments prepare you for the final stretch of the journey before returning to the Grandhotel Bad Ragaz for the night.

Day 14
Liechtenstein, Alpine Villages & Farewell Switzerland

Morning: Your final day introduces Liechtenstein, the 6th smallest country in the world. In Vaduz, a guided walk reveals the capital’s understated charm, with the option to visit one of its museums for a cultural finale. A scenic stop below Vaduz Castle offers a last chance for panoramic photographs.

Afternoon: You continue into the mountain village of Malbun, where a gentle village walk provides a peaceful contrast to the cities and resorts seen earlier in the trip. The journey then returns to Switzerland for a final stop at the Läderach chocolate factory, where Swiss craftsmanship is enjoyed one last time.

Evening: From here, you are transferred to Zurich or Zurich Airport, concluding your Switzerland travel itinerary with a sense of completion. It’s a quiet, thoughtful ending to a journey that has crossed regions, cultures, and landscapes without ever feeling rushed.
